UPDATE 060 – Crash Reboot Issue #1 To Be Published Soon

2021-02-28-FRI @ 12:21 AM CST – – – It has literally been a month since I’ve written anything for Crash Reboot! That’s because I have been extremely busy with the re-launch of my business directory – The BIG List at www.BigBizList.com – – – You know I was going to abandon that directory, but I couldn’t do it. I love promoting businesses in the United States. So if you are a business owner, check it out. It’s nationwide, and carries only a one time listing/editing fee. This morning I’m feeling like it’s time to finally start publishing this newsletter. I don’t even remember what all I’ve written in it since I started this in December 2020. So I have designed a format for the PDF, and will soon get this published on my website at www.DDAVIDD.com – Stay tuned.

UPDATE 059 – The Morning Greeting For Saturday, January 30th, 2021

2021-01-30-SAT @ 8:29 AM CST – 10:27 AM CST – – – Good morning readers! Today I’m starting up a new monologue in my social networking routine. It is simply called The Morning Greeting! By: David Thrift (that’s me ya’ll). I am at my kitchen counter desktop this a.m. where I had intended to get my taxes done online, I don’t know that I’m going to get that done today. I need to, but I’m pressed for time with all the writing I need to get done for my morning online check-in. Here’s a few things I have to share with you this morning.

1st UP – X1 Nano Review – ThinkPad’s answer to the Air? – From Mash IT – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC2IDlWRrRgMAe9fRc4juEA – – – Here’s a video for a super cool and very thin & light 13″ Lenovo Thinkpad laptop. If you don’t know it, I’m a slight bit technology geek, and I love watching technology progress into the super thin and light computing machines that are getting slimmer and lighter every month. Well this laptop is insanely small, but for someone who really needs a thin and light machine for travel & on the go, or just to go chill out at the coffee shop… this might fit the bill. Bear in mind though that it is pretty expensive (aren’t they all!). Check out the video review at – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC2IDlWRrRgMAe9fRc4juEA

2nd UP – Just a quick and simple productivity tip I personally use: In Notepad on your pc, create a text file called Official Scratchpad (or whatever you want to call it – that’s what I call mine). Use that file to do your writing for your social media posts, newsletters, and blog posts. You can create templates in it that allow you to build a matching format for all of your platforms that you use daily. For example, I like to place timestamps at the beginning of my updates. It’s intended more for my own personal use than for my reader’s, because I like to see when I wrote and posted information. With that written into my template, all I have to do is edit it – and it’s so easy and quick. It’s more convenient to have a template to customize with each of your posts, than it is to write new posts from scratch (that’s why I call my text file “Official Scratchpad).

3rd UP – I want to share some Etsy shops with you. I’m a huge fan of Etsy… ok, not so much Etsy itself, but the people who use it to sell their handmade products. (Fun Fact: I used to run an Etsy shop called The Hat Pit. It was where I sold my hand-knit beanies. I discovered however that promoting other businesses on Etsy through my blogging was more fun to me. That was how I got started as a business promoter and business directory owner). I only promote Etsy shops that are operated in the United States, so if you love supporting American businesses, then check these out.

UPDATE 058 – Tillor

2021-01-29-FRI @ 1:08 AM CST – – – I want to share a new (to me) social network that has come to the world wide web. It’s called Tillor. From Tillor’s “About” page: Tillor is a social media platform that respects everyone’s point of view regardless of opinions, ideals or political views. That’s how free speech should work. The Tillor team is located in Katy, Texas and was developed by Shane Cormier. Tillor debuted on January 16th to disrupt the monopolized social media industry. – – – MY COMMENTARY: This morning is the first time I have taken a look at this website, although I’m pretty sure I saw it mentioned somewhere previously. I looked it up on YouTube and this guy –> https://tillor.com/GhostShadow made a video about it to describe some of it’s use. So I went to his profile page on Tillor and had a look around. I didn’t get far however because Tillor requires you to login to look deep into their platform. So I signed up. I can found there at https://tillor.com/SirDDAVIDD – – – I haven’t explored the site much yet, so I’ll have to get back with a review later on how good it is.

UPDATE 057 – Blip Billboards

2021-01-29-FRI @ 9:37 AM CST – – – This morning I want to recommend an advertising platform I love to use. It is Blip Billboards service. Do you know that if you have a small business, or even a large business, you can advertise on digital billboards all across the United States. You can set your own budget and spend exactly how much, or how little you wish to spend. Bear in mind that unlike previously, Blip Billboards now requires a minimum budget for multiple billboard signs. For example at the time that I am writing this, I have 2 billboards playing in my advertising campaign. For those 2 billboards, I’m required to spend a minimum $4.00 daily budget which would get me around 80+ billboard blips (a blip refers to each time your sign appears on a billboard). If you add more signs to your campaign, then your daily spending budget must be increased. It used to be possible to spend just a few bucks and add dozens of billboard signs to your campaign all across the U.S. However, now I’m figuring that Blip Billboards or the sign owners weren’t making any money, so they changed their business model. This isn’t entirely a bad thing. It just requires advertising in your campaigns a different way, and in the end it can cost the consumer more money to advertise, but when you consider the platform… Where else can you find it so easy to put a billboard sign up somewhere without having to make calls. You just sign up for an account. Create your sign according to the pixel size requirements for the location you wish to advertise at (or let Blip’s service design one for you), add the location to your campaign, set your daily spending budget, and then basically forget about it while you spend your time building your business. Using this platform allows me to get the word out about my business – The BIG List – https://www.BigBizList.com – without having to lift a finger on the internet if I don’t want to. I love Blip Billboards. Check them out – https://www.blipbillboards.com/

UPDATE 056 – Today In History Serial Killer Ted Bundy Is Executed In 1989

2021-01-24-SUN @ 9:31 AM CST – – – Today In History – Serial Killer Ted Bundy Is Executed In 1989 – Theodore Robert “Ted” Bundy (born Theodore Robert Cowell; November 24, 1946 – January 24, 1989) was an American serial killer, rapist, kidnapper, and necrophile who assaulted and murdered numerous young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly earlier. After more than a decade of denials, he confessed shortly before his execution to 30 homicides committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978; the true total remains unknown, and could be much higher. – Read more at The Free Dictionary – https://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Ted+Bundy

UPDATE 055 – Beastie Boys Book By Michael Diamond (Audiobook)

2021-01-24-SUN @ 9:02 AM CST – – – Beastie Boys Book By Michael Diamond (Audiobook)This morning I’ve started listing to the Beastie Boys Book by Michael Diamond (audiobook – in Overdrive) and I am enjoying it a lot. I’m an hour and 20 minutes into the book (I’m listening on 1.60x play speed – because I like to get through my audiobooks as quick as possible without distorting the reader’s voice beyond understanding). There’s a chapter describing how much music listening differed back in the 80’s when using the then ever-popular cassette tape walkman’s (and later cheaper brand cassette tape players) – these were popular before cd’s and portable cd players became popular. Speaking of portable cd players, I’ve been seeing the Walmart is carrying an ONN brand portable cd player for less than $25 and I’m thinking about getting one because I’ve been shopping on ebay for audiobook cd’s. Anyway, what was said in the book was about how much harder it was to carry your music on all those cassette tapes. You had to choose your very best music to carry with you so that you don’t get caught with music you didn’t want your friends knowing you liked. You also needed to wear your clothes that had the most pockets, but be careful not to carry too much because too many cassette tapes could make you look like an idiot. Today in 2021, even past the biggest era of MP3 player popularity, we still have MP3’s that we can purchase and load up on our smartphones, tablets, and computers (most preferably these days on our smartphones). We also have music streaming services such as Spotify (which is the one I use and love). All you young people out there today will never know the hassle it was to be a music fan 30 or 40 years ago. Be grateful because today we have massive collections of music accessible in a small device. It’s so easy to discover new artists both new and old. We literally have “all you can eat” access to music today. It’s awesome. Take advantage of it. I love Spotify for that reason.

UPDATE 052 – I’m Glad I Don’t Depend On Insulin

2021-01-23-SAT @ 3:45 PM CST – – – I’m glad I don’t have to depend on Insulin. Biden administration freezes Trump’s directive to lower insulin prices  – In his first week, Biden is proving to be a straight up piece of shit. – This story excerpt from The Blaze – – – In his first days in office, President Joe Biden went on a blitz of reversing or halting policies implemented by former President Donald Trump. Included in the flurry of executive orders and directives, the Biden administration paused a measure that was designed to decrease the price of insulin. – – – Full story – https://www.theblaze.com/news/biden-administration-insulin-prices-trump

UPDATE 051 – Fuck Stephen King

2021-01-23-SAT @ 12:32 PM CST – – – Fuck Stephen King – Boycott Stephen King. Don’t buy his books. You can read many of them or hear some of the audiobooks WITHOUT SPENDING A DIME in Overdrive, Libby, or Hoopla with your local library card. If your library doesn’t support one of those, check with them to see your options. – Stephen King apparently likes to run his mouth on Twitter at Kayleigh McEnany, former Press Secretary, saying “enjoy your next job as a cocktail waitress”. Well Stephen King can enjoy his next job as a janitor. – https://youtu.be/MN1JEj5mVYA
